Jagged Edges

18-9-2013.2I took photos of this very simple flower and noticed then that the petals have such cool jagged edges. This is one of the things I enjoy in photography, it really makes you take a closer look and notice such cool things you would otherwise not see.

  1. I could not agree with you more, photography makes you look at things differently and notice small things often overlooked. Great shot and very cool flower Elina, have a great day šŸ˜€

Beautiful capture! I agree – photography does teach you to look at things closer. I like this quote by Dorothea Lange: “The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.”

  3. They do, like someone has snipped the ends with scissors!! šŸ™‚ I love the little shadows the upper petals are casting on the lower ones too. Yes, photography really enables us to see so much more than our eyes would ever see in real life. I think our brains take it all in, but something has to minimise how much we acknowledge otherwise we’d be so in awe of everything we’d never be able to function! Have you ever seen one of those super slow motion videos that takes a lot more detail than an average film, then they slow it down and play it back, something as simple as a sneeze filmed in that way, can be amazing to see! šŸ™‚ Here’s an example! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHJ4A4BdHrA

    1. Ah Suzy, now it happened to me… I somehow missed this comment of yours. I really like your idea on how our brain functions and if we saw everything so detailed we would be in awe all the time. I imagine that would be quite overwhelming šŸ™‚ Great video! Thank you so much for yet another great comment Suzy!
