    1. I did, thank you! πŸ™‚ It was the first time I got my name on a coffee cup but I’ll have to come up with something new for the next time. I bet you’ve had Lignum Draco written on your cup. πŸ™‚

  1. I love that you took this Elina. Only obsessive photographers like us, take these type of images. And aren’t you glad we do?
Beautiful contrast, lighting, and dof. Bravo!!!

Good morning Elina and enjoy your coffee πŸ™‚ I also like such moment when i can drink a good coffee and watch the people passing by outside and think about many thinks πŸ™‚

  3. Love this too and loved what Dan said… Ha ha.
The first thing I noticed about this fantastic everyday image, was the stillness of the coffee cup (this made me think the cafe was quiet πŸ™‚ ) and the busyness of outside.
    Almost two images in one.

    1. So nice to hear what you noticed here! I agree there’s a lovely contrast of stillness and busy life. Dan said it out loud… we are a bit obsessive, or maybe passionate about taking photos. πŸ™‚ How cool it will be to watch this photo in 10, 20, 50 years and come back to this moment. πŸ™‚ Always great to hear your thoughts Robyn, thank you!

  4. That’s what I could use right now a nice hot cup of coffee and a piece of that raspberry cheesecake you previously posted πŸ™‚ Everyday subject but wonderfully done image Elina. Let me guess cream and 1 sugar ?

    1. Oh I would like a piece of that cheesecake also. πŸ™‚ This was cappuccino, so with milk and milk foam. Without sugar. Thank you for your kind words Joe! πŸ™‚

  5. I really love this Elina! πŸ™‚ I get a good feeling of the atmosphere of coffee shop/restaurant from that picture, and I like the way the people in the distance are out of focus, that gives a kind of daydreaming coffee moment to it!

I was just wondering, would you mind if I borrowed your image for a poem I have coming up sometime called ‘CafΓ©s’? I would give you the credit and all the links back to your blog regarding your picture. I’ve been thinking to ask some of the brilliant photographers I follow to do this for a while, as I know a lot of bloggers do that, teaming up with writing and art or photography. I already have the poem posted on a relatively new Tumblr poetry blog I have, I thought it would work well on WordPress too. The poem is a little sad, so seeing as your name is written on the cup, I would point out that it’s just a poem and doesn’t relate to you in any way. Here’s a link if you want to read what it’s about. http://darcyellington.tumblr.com/post/77038226710/there-are-days-when-i-sit-alone-in-cafes-with Darcy Ellington is my character I’m writing about on there, and not generally myself. But if you’re not happy for any reason on the use of your picture, please feel at ease with saying no, I won’t mind at all. I wouldn’t use your picture on Tumblr by the way, only on the WordPress blog.

I have an internet friend who is a young actress just starting out in her career who is currently making a short film of the poem, which I’m hoping to include as part of the post, so it’s all very exciting, for her and me! But I’m not sure how long the process will take, it’s out of my hands, so it may be a while before it’s ready.

    1. Thank you very much Suzy! πŸ™‚ There is something charming in the mood in coffee shops.

I’d love you to use the photo for your poem. I read it and it’s wonderful! πŸ™‚

      1. Oh, that’s great Elina, I’ll look forward to that! I will let you know when I get nearer the time of posting the poem – thank you! πŸ™‚
